Gabe Reed is a classical pianist and teacher from Oregon, where he began studying piano at age six with Jan Saito. He then studied piano with Hans Boepple at Santa Clara University, working as a teaching assistant in music theory classes and graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Gabe went on to earn his Master of Music in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with Sharon Mann. He is now completing his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance under Mark Anderson at the University of British Columbia, where he works as a collaborative pianist with the UBC choirs.
Gabe has performed at the Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival in Italy and has been featured as a concerto soloist three times with the Sunriver Music Festival in Oregon. He has performed in masterclasses with Van Cliburn medalists Olga Kern, Kenneth Broberg, Sean Chen, and Dmytro Choni. In piano competitions, Gabe’s distinctions include silver in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, winner of the Music Teachers’ Association of California Concerto Competition, first prize in the Eugene Symphony Guild Young Artist Competition, and multiple medals in the Cascades Classical Music Foundation Young Artist Competition.
